About Mrs Abigail Adeboyin Aderounmu (Nee Alabi)
Mama Adeboyin Abigail had a traumatic birth experience. She was born as a premature baby. At that time, with no medical care as of today even in developed countries with neonatal intensive care, many around her parents advised her mother to throw her away. Her mother’s love with God’s mercy and grace made her to keep and nurture her despite the emotional challenges and stresses on mother and daughter. The devoted parents to Baptistic doctrines kept the faith in God and kept her. She grew up to be a pretty lady with a loving heart. She had a close knit relationship with her siblings especially Susannah Owoade, Joseph Adeteju from the other mother and Gbadegesin. They went to Baptist Day School, Oke-Afin Igboho. Even during the holidays, their strict father would make them spend their weekends at Amoke farm as the strict father would never allow his children to go for dance instead, the dancing should be done at the farm in the moonlight, which was always a welcomed idea with Mama Abigail. At the farm, anytime a bird was whistling, Mama would say the bird was saying “Gbadegesin Koka” (her brothers: Gbadegesin and Joseph). She really loved her brothers (Egbon Oloye) and all her other siblings.
After her primary schooling, she was admitted to Baptist Modern School, Igboho where she completed the modern school education a step to further education in teaching. Her father’s love for education made him to sponsor her to Baptist Women College, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Her own passion for higher education made her to proceed to Saint Andrews College of Education, Oyo, after giving birth to five children, which she left with her mother (Iya Abeke) in Igboho.
