About Mrs Abigail Adeboyin Aderounmu (Maami's Biography)
Early Life
Late Mrs. Abigail Adeboyin Aderounmu (nee Alabi)was born on January 26, 1946, to Late Pa Samuel Adebisi and Late Mama Juliana Jolade Alabi of Balogun Compound, Ebedi, Igboho. She was the eldest child of six children from her mother, the second of her father. Mama Adeboyin Abigail had a traumatic birth experience. She was born as a premature baby. At that time, with no medical care as of today even in developed countries with neonatal intensive care, many around her parents advised her mother to throw her away. Her mother’s love with God’s mercy and grace made her to keep and nurture her despite the emotional challenges and stresses on mother and daughter. The devoted parents to Baptistic doctrines kept the faith in God and kept her. She grew up to be a pretty lady with a loving heart. She had a close knit relationship with her siblings especially Susannah Owoade, Joseph Adeteju from the other mother and Gbadegesin. They went to Baptist Day School, Oke-Afin Igboho. Even during the holidays, their strict father would make them spend their weekends at Amoke farm as the strict father would never allow his children to go for dance instead, the dancing should be done at the farm in the moonlight, which was always a welcomed idea with Mama Abigail. At the farm, anytime a bird was whistling, Mama would say the bird was saying “Gbadegesin Koka” (her brothers: Gbadegesin and Joseph). She really loved her brothers (Egbon Oloye) and all her other siblings.

Personal Life
Mama Abigail’s line and that of her late husband (Pa Micheal Aderogba Ayinde Aderounmu) crossed while she was teaching at Baptist Day School, Ago Amodu. The marriage was blessed with children and grandchildren. They were together until death separated them on January 10, 2022. Despite being attached to her husband, she always made it a point of duty to always be with her children, especially when they gave birth. This made her travel to the USA in the year 2003 to babysit her granddaughter, while there she visited her sibling’s families, they loved her to stay longer but she would say “Baba is at home, I can’t stay long”.

Last Moments
Mama had a glorious last moment with all her beloved ones. Although she was not a woman of many words, but her words were drastically reduced; she made use of Proverbs 10:19: “In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin; but he that refraineth his lips is wise”. The things she did mostly were smiling, praying, singing, and dancing. Early this year, when she clocked 80, she was waving with smiles and told us that she wanted to dance and said a word of appreciation to everyone, not knowing that she had seen a glimpse of heavenly glory. On that faithful Saturday, March 14, everything about her was normal, she bathed, dressed, ate a little, and told her daughter that she wanted to rest, she relaxed on her chest, and that was the last. The legacy of love, compassion, unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and contentment she left will never be forgotten. Rest on in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ, a loving mother till the resurrection day, where we shall meet to part no more.
